David Maher: Player Spotlight

David Maher has been a part of the Silverhawk's Baseball Organization since 2009, the team's inaugural season. David posted a .341 batting average with one homerun and a .943 fielding percentage. His 16U team became the 2010 16U East Coast National Tournament Champions at Baseball Heaven 2010, and the 16U Dan Duquette Tournament Runner-ups. David is going into his senior year at St. Johns Prep. As a sophomore David was awarded the Junior Varsity Player of the Year for his baseball team at St. Johns Prep.

David has really made use of the training through Game 7 Training which is the Silverhawk's official strength and conditioning provider. He stated that he lost 40 pounds with Game 7 training as well as gaining self-discipline on his own between the fall and spring of his sophomore year of high school. His success is a direct result of his determination.

He also is a very superstitious player just as most other baseball players are. He drinks an iced coffee before each game which helps in increasing his energy and relaxing him so he can play to the best of his potential. He wears a blue rubber wrist band on his throwing hand and it is commemorative of his Dad, who passed away about two years ago. The wristband says on it "RIP MGM" and has the date he passed away on the other side. He has never played a game or even practiced without it on. It's something he holds very dear to him. He also has backup wristbands in his bedroom in case he breaks or loses one.

"David has talent for this game that easily fits at the college level. He will be a productive middle of the lineup hitter with both power and a sound offensive approach that is geared to produce runs. He has positional versatility behind the plate, at first, third base, and even in the outfield. These skills coupled with his power and hitting tools make him an easy fit for a college lineup."

Some of the potential schools that David is considering are as follows:

Worcester Poly Tech (D3)
Brandeis (D3)
West Virginia Welseyan (D2)
Southern New Hampshire University (D2)
Siena College (D1)
Purdue University (D1)
Creighton University (D1)
Fordham University (D1)

Swathmore University (D3)
Tufts University (D3)

The Silverhawks Baseball Organization is very proud of David and we wish him luck with his future endeavors.
