Our Program
Mission Statement
Our mission is to develop youth through the game of baseball, helping them achieve their goals. We believe that strength and natural talent alone are insufficient toward this end, but that coupled with continuous improvement, the pursuit of excellence, hard work and self-discipline the keys to unlocking one's potential are found.
Objective
The Silverhawks organization will train its players to understand baseball as professionals through their refining years. Through community outreach, mentoring, and educational assistance we aim to assist our players in achieving their aspirations. The Silverhawks endeavor to incorporate players from all communities around the Greater Boston area.
Program Overview
The Silverhawks came to fruition through the efforts of several people involved in Professional Baseball with a desire to see young players learn to play the game properly. We have assembled a staff that will develop players both on the field with knowledge accrued through years of Professional Baseball experience and in the gym through the most current strength and conditioning approaches available.
The most complete youth amateur baseball program in the Northeast, the Silverhawks focus on player development for all stages of baseball.
"The Silverhawks program will train its players to understand baseball as professionals from an early age. Players will be taught the building blocks of the game in all physical aspects, but also taught to understand how to approach each situation mentally and strategically in an advanced way. Individually, each player will be brought along at their own pace to maximize their personal development. The goal of the Silverhawks program is to help each player achieve their goals in the game of baseball by giving them the advantages gained from years of professional experience. The Silverhawks will begin training shortly after team selection, twice a week at a new indoor baseball training facility in Saugus Mass, which will run from late October until the end of March 2011. A Strength and Conditioning coach is also part of the program and he will train in a professional manner only available to Silverhawks players. There will also be the opportunity for other instructors to work with players in a camp style format on a special appearance basis. Additionally, there will be overall development plans for all positions that players will be asked to follow. No player will get this knowledge of baseball and athletic development anywhere else."
2009-2010 Season Overview
The Silverhawks Organization's vision is to improve the way the game of baseball in the northeast is played. AAU baseball seemed to be the most effective way to teach today's young athletes to play the game correctly. After months of planning, the organization put together a 16U team to kick off the 2009-2010 season. This group of fifteen young men went through months of rigorous training to prepare for the first season of the Silverhawks Baseball Organization. The team was led by head coach, Dean Thoennes, and assistant head coach, Shane Kelly. With the help from many others involved in the development of these players such as Kevin Brochu, the Silverhawks managed to have an outstanding season in its first year of existence. The Hawks ended the season with an impressive 25-14-1 record and taking home the titles of East Coast National Tournament Champions and Dan Duquette Tournament Runner-ups. The 2010-2011 Season looks even more promising after our expansion to four teams 13U, 14U, 16U, and 18U. Stay Tuned throughout this season for what surely will be an exciting one!
